Crisis Team
A Crisis Plan has been developed for use in a crisis situation to meet the needs of our students, staff, parents and community with confidence. A crisis might include a lockdown, a bomb threat, a severe weather event, a death or other severe traumatic occurrence.
Each building has selected staff to serve on a Building Crisis Committee. This committee is comprised of staff members who are willing to assist with coordination and communication before, during and after a traumatic event.
Objectives
- To maintain a safe environment for students and staff
- To meet the special emotional needs of individual students
- To continue effective instructions and to carry out established routines, rules and regulations
- To communicate with staff, students and the public effectively and efficiently
Roles and Responsibilities of Crisis Team Members
- Annually review district crisis procedures and protocols
- In partnership with Building Principal, develop building professional development
- Coordinate and communicate with Central Office, Building Team, Families, Staff and Meridian Township Police and Fire, if necessary
- Ensure ALL media contacts go through the District Information Officer Document and record all incidents to District Information Officer
