Our District

The Big Picture

We have a simple yet powerful vision at Haslett Public Schools: We make students successful. To achieve this vision, we are driven by a mission to provide educational opportunities that enable students of all aspirations and abilities to grow and learn.

Doing that requires a relentless focus on:

  1. Maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment

  2. Employing and developing the best staff

  3. Maintaining a strong curriculum and offering relevant and competitive co-curricular activities

  4. Integrating technology into student learning experiences

  5. Prioritizing fiscally responsible operations to ensure the sustainability and quality of our programs.

Our ultimate goal is to produce competent, caring, and confident students. We want graduates who can:

  • Achieve quality results, both independently and collaboratively

  • Communicate competently

  • Exhibit responsibility as community members

  • Show a thorough understanding and application of information

  • Make wise choices regarding their personal health, safety, and happiness

  • Possess the skills and self-knowledge necessary to enter college, pursue a career path, and become active citizens in an ever-changing world

A+ Tradition of Excellence

The A+ Haslett Public Schools mark, adopted in 1988 under the leadership of former Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Hughes, symbolizes our commitment to excellence. It represents our aspiration for personal and school-wide achievement and serves as a universal icon that parents, students, community members, and staff can relate to and strive toward. The A+ mark is a reminder of our ongoing commitment to excellence in all areas of our district operations and student outcomes.

Geography

Our PK-12 school district spans approximately 30 square miles, primarily in Meridian Township, but also includes parts of Bath, Woodhull, and Williamston townships, representing three different counties: Clinton, Shiawassee, and Ingham. Haslett Public Schools is part of the Ingham ISD.

Governance

As a public school district in Michigan, Haslett Public Schools is governed by a team of citizens elected by the community at large. Our Board of Education consists of seven people who meet twice a month to develop policy, consider recommendations made by the Superintendent, and set strategic priorities for administration and staff. Our Board of Education members are committed to providing a quality education for Haslett students. Board Policies are available online.
