Resolution to Establish the Imagine 2030 Strategic Planning Task Force
Whereas, the Board of Education of Haslett Public Schools is committed to fostering an environment that supports student success and aligns with our community's vision for educational excellence;
Whereas, our rapidly evolving world demands thoughtful evolution of our educational practices to prepare students with both timeless skills and emerging competencies;
Whereas, the development of a comprehensive strategic plan, titled "Imagine 2030," requires meaningful collaboration between our community stakeholders, Board of Education, and district leadership;
Whereas, effective strategic planning depends on clear role delineation, authentic community engagement, and aligned implementation efforts;
Whereas, sustained improvement requires both visionary leadership and systematic communication of our shared aspirations;
Be it resolved that:
- A district-level team, known as the Imagine 2030 Strategic Planning Task Force, is hereby established to gather and synthesize community input on student outcomes and district capabilities.
- The task force shall convene building-level teams to facilitate structured dialogue through:
- Small group discussions with staff, students, and families
- Focused sessions with business and community leaders
- Engagement with civic organizations and community groups
- Broad community input through surveys and public forums
- The task force shall synthesize community input to develop and present:
- Our community’s shared aspirations for the knowledge, skills, and competencies our graduates will possess
- A draft outline of the organizational capabilities, structures, and systems needed to achieve these educational outcomes
- The Board of Education shall:
- Actively participate to the best of their ability in community input sessions to hear stakeholder perspectives firsthand
- Participate in Board workshops to review community input and district data while providing feedback on emerging themes and priorities
- Establish Strategic Plan Pillars that reflect both community aspirations and district priorities
- Partner with district administration to ensure resource alignment with strategic direction
- District administration shall then:
- Align the profiles and pillars with building-level continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop specific, measurable objectives
- Create detailed implementation pathways and activities
- Establish progress monitoring systems
- Design and implement a comprehensive communication plan that:
- Reflects community input and aspirations
- Effectively disseminates the refined vision, mission, values, and goals
- Maintains ongoing dialogue with stakeholders
- Ensures consistent messaging across all district platforms
- Celebrates progress and maintains momentum
- The task force shall provide progress updates for Board feedback during workshops on March 10 and April 14, 2025, with draft profiles presented on May 12, 2025.
- The task force's community engagement activities shall commence following the approval of this resolution on January 27, 2025, and conclude with the presentation of draft profiles to the Board.
- The Board of Education commits to:
- Providing necessary resources for meaningful community engagement
- Supporting transparent communication throughout the process
- Thoughtfully considering community input in goal-setting
- Empowering administrators to develop implementation strategies
Be it further resolved that:
This strategic planning process shall honor the distinct roles of community voice, Board vision, and administrative implementation while ensuring cohesive advancement toward educational excellence for all students.
