WELCOME TO ROOM 306!
Wow! Another new school year! This year marks my 19th year of teaching at Murphy School. I have always been teaching 4th grade and enjoy it everyday. I graduated from Western Michigan University in 1982, and I received my Masters in 2009.
Usually every summer we travel out west because we have two of our children living in Portland, Oregon. However, we aren't able to travel out west this year and we plan on enjoying the beautiful state of Michigan. Our daughter Nicole (a high school math teacher) and her husband David (works in IT at US Bank) live in Portland, Oregon. They have a 4 year old son, Cameron. Our son Derek lives not too far from his sister and is a free lance web designer. He loves to bike and hike the area and takes great pictures. We have one more son, Nathan who works at MSU in the IT department. He is married to Emily who is a stay-at-home mom. They have five children. Their oldest is Cora and she is 5. Next, they have Ruby who is 3, Oliver who is a 2 years old, and finally a set of twin girls. Their names are Violet and Penelope. They are 2 months old. They live in Williamston so I see them often. I like to spend my free time gardening, bike riding and reading books.
Something I enjoy doing before school starts is having a home visit with each of you. A home visit usally lasts around 20 minutes, and I just ask you questions that are mainly about your interests, what subjects you enjoy in school, and what you did over the summer. Have a parent click on the Home Visit Sign-Up tab located on the scroll bar to sign up for a day and time. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you, and I'm planning on us having a great year learning and investigating our world.
