~ Ms. Farrell ~
I am a Resource Teacher and Teacher Consultant at Murphy Elementary, now starting my 21st year of teaching and learning in Haslett! I earned a Master of Science in Special Education from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Kalamazoo College. Prior to becoming a teacher in 1997, I was a Clinical Specialist at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore.
One of my professional interests is the integration of technology for enhancing and expanding the learning experiences of children. I have completed 21 Things 4 Teachers, a program aligned to International Technology Standards (ISTE) and designed to help educators build best practice instructional strategies with technology tools. I also recently participated in the first cohort of Haslett's Blended Learning Initiative and attended conferences through ♥nErDcamp!♥ and Michigan Virtual University.
I am passionate about helping young learners understand how much they truly can do. Strengthening personal responsibility within each child's ability level is at the heart of my program. I believe that every child has a unique capacity to become a successful, independent, life-long learner, and I promise to do whatever I can to facilitate this growth. We will have a fantastic year together!
