Emergency Drills and Procedures

Schools are required to provide a list of scheduled drill days for each school building to their local emergency manager no later than September 15 of each school year. Buildings are also required to post their drill schedule on the district website.
If a scheduled drill is not conducted on the prescheduled drill day due to conditions not within the control of school authorities, the drill MUST be rescheduled within 10 days after the scheduled date of the canceled drill. Building principal must notify local emergency management of the rescheduled date.
FIRE DRILLS: 5 Required (three on or before December 1, two after December 1)
TORNADO DRILLS: 2 Required (one in March, one between August and June)
LOCK-IN DRILLS: 3 Required (one on or before December 1, one after January 1, one between August and June; one of the three must be conducted during lunch or recess or when significant numbers of students are gathered but not in class)Haslett Public Schools follows specific procedures as the result of an emergency incident. The procedures may be modified to fit the needs or requirements of individual school buildings, and in some cases, the district consults with local first response agencies and emergency management for further guidance.
