  • Student working online

Haslett has partnered with Edmentum to provide full time virtual learning options for Haslett students in grades K-12. These online courses will be delivered by highly qualified Michigan Certified teachers from Edmentum and NOT by Haslett teachers or support staff. There is no cost to Haslett families for attending the Virtual Academy during the regular school year. Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to service students from other districts.

Please read below for more information about what the program looks like for students at each level. If you would like to enroll in the full time virtual learning option, please complete the Enrollment Form

Edmentum's Calvert Learning curriculum is "designed with built-in supports for students learning outside of the traditional classroom to provide a comprehensive digital learning experience. Courses include a variety of multimodal learning activities, projects, and assessments that harness students' natural curiosity to develop a lifelong love of learning."

Please review this video to see what a day in the life of an online student enrolled in the Calvert Learning platform looks like.

What is Calvert Learning? "It is carefully curated, research-based curriculum designed to engage elementary learners. Problem-based activities and engaging projects will challenge students to apply what they learn in deeper, more meaningful ways. Interactive multimedia resources including skills-building games, videos, quizzes, and virtual labs are also included. Instructional approaches are designed for elementary students whose families are enthusiastic about partnering with educators and facilitating a highly personalized learning journey."

Haslett Public Schools recommends that all students K-12, but primarily students K-8, have a full time, dedicated learning partner and coach in the home. The learning partner should be committed to attending all orientation and training sessions as well as bi-weekly meetings with the online instructors to help ensure the student's success in virtual learning. Learning Partners will be instrumental in helping the student build a daily schedulemodel hard work and persistence, set up a designated workspace, get to know the online learning platform and stay in communication with online teachers and the school mentor.

If you would like to enroll in the full time learning option, please complete the Enrollment Form by Friday, August 20. Contact Margy Barile, Assistive and Instructional Technology Specialist at barilema@haslett.k12.mi.us or 517-339-7400 ext. 2 for more information.
