• HASLETT EQUITY PLAN

    Our goal of developing an Equity Plan for the district will engage the school board and other constituency groups—specifically students, parents/guardians, teachers, administrators and other staff—in a series of conversations aimed at accomplishing the following goals: 

    1. Identifying the strengths, priorities, and values of the district from different perspectives recognizing that these district plans/mission statements/core principles should be aspirational and honest and that they serve as both a window to others and a mirror to the district. 
    2. Drafting a document that reflects these commitments including specific deliverables and accompanying timelines.
    3. Developing a rollout plan that seeks to build community around the new Equity Plan for the district. 

    ACTIVITIES TIMELINE

    Develop a survey that will go out to parents, teachers, school staff, board members, and high school students. Survey would solicit feedback on what HPS community members identify as the strengths, priorities, and values of the district as they relate to equity. The survey will also ask for the contact information and a statement of interest from parties interested in participating in a Haslett Equity Planning Committee.

    • There would be a two-week window for survey completion.
    • A report of submissions would be provided to the Haslett Leadership Team for review and committee selection.
    • The approved equity planning committee would seek to determine two to three meeting dates/times.
    • TIMELINE – March 2021 

    Facilitate three 1.5 to 2-hour meetings with approved Haslett Equity Planning Committee would take place during the spring and summer of 2021. One meeting will be focused on discussing equity frameworks within a Haslett context. Another meeting will be focused on understanding feedback from survey on the strengths, priorities, and values of the district as they relate to equity. Third meeting will be to iron out details and finalize components of the Equity Plan. The objective of these three meetings will be to develop and finalize a plan for discussing survey findings and/or soliciting additional feedback from district constituency groups before the end of the academic year.

    • Meetings dates and times will be coordinated based on the availability of committee members.
    • Meetings will be facilitated with agendas and resources provided to committee members ahead of time.
    • Meeting notes will be recorded and provided to Haslett Administrative Team.
    • TIMELINE – July to November 2021 

    Facilitate six one-hour listening tour meetings with the school board, students, parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other staff to discuss findings and working draft of an Equity Plan. Meetings with individual groups should take place during the fall semester. The hope is that Equity Planning Committee members will co-facilitate community meetings.  

    • Meetings dates and times will be coordinated based on the availability of committee members.
    • Agendas and resources provided to attendees.
    • Meeting notes will be recorded and provided to Haslett Administrative Team.
    • TIMELINE – December 2021 - February 2022

    Facilitate two 1.5 to 2 hours meeting with district leaders to synthesize all input, draft a final Equity Plan, and to develop an action plan for the district.
