  • Dear Haslett High School Students and Families:

    We hope this letter finds you and your loved ones healthy and safe. While this school year has unfolded in challenging ways that we could not have predicted, we are committed to supporting our students and providing them with an education. Every professional at Haslett Public Schools is moving forward, keeping in mind our beliefs of Flexibility, Simplicity, and Understanding.

    Schedule of Instruction - April 13 - June 10 (9 weeks)

    Week 1 (April 13 - 17): Orientation Week - Students and teachers will reconnect, discuss expectations for online instruction, and review previous learning.

    Attendance

    • We ask that students have contact with each of their teachers every week via email, a post to Google Classroom, or by some other means. We want to ensure our students are safe, healthy, and moving forward as best as they can.

    Grading

    • Students are encouraged to engage in continuous learning to the best of their ability.
    • Tests, quizzes, and final exams have been suspended for the remainder of the year.
    • Semester 2 assignments given prior to the shutdown will be accepted and graded with no penalty.
    • At the end of semester 2, students will be assigned a “G” for credit or “I” for incomplete based on skills they were able to demonstrate.  See grading policy.
    • Students enrolled in AP classes will be able to take an at-home AP exam in May.
    • Seniors not meeting graduation requirements will be given an opportunity to submit a special project assigned by their instructor no later than May 1. After May 1, students not passing will be placed in our online E2020 credit recovery program. All students in this situation will receive written communication from Haslett High School.

    MVU and Dual Enrollment grades will be added to transcripts at the completion of the course and figured into students’ GPAs.

    Students with Special Needs

    • Special Education staff will ensure that IEP supports and services will be implemented through an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and Amendment or the student’s current IEP.
    • If you have questions about your child’s IEP or 504 plan, please connect with their caseload manager.

    Materials

    • It is understood that accessibility to devices and reliable Internet varies from household to household. 
    • Students should contact their teachers and/or caseload managers regarding the need for printed materials.  Every effort will be made to satisfy this request.

    Building and Field Access

    • Because the MHSAA (Michigan High School Athletic Association) has canceled spring sports and the stay-at-home order is in force, no one should be on school grounds or using athletic facilities at any time, unless picking up educational materials.
    • Once the stay-at-home order is lifted, information will be available about how to pick up personal items left in the building and return textbooks and materials.

    • Being mindful of our values of Flexibility, Simplicity, and Understanding, we are committed to a partnership in the learning journey ahead. 
    • Please communicate with your child about what is happening in their classes, connect with teachers if there are concerns, and let the Administrative Team know how we can help.
