    "Attention all students, a student from AP government class is running a drive for menstrual products to help those in need in our community as part of a civic action project from Friday 5/27 through Friday 6/3. Please bring all donations to the media center, there will be a table on which to place them. More information about this project can be found in the media center. Thank you."

    Sophomores who are New NHS Members - Please don't forget to complete the application online and pay your dues to Mrs. Cull by the end of today. 

    Yearbooks will be handed out during A and B lunches on Wednesday, June 1. Make sure to pick yours up. If you have not ordered one yet they will be available for purchase by check or cash for $75.

     

    Any student interested in participating in dual enrollment for the 2022-23 school year, there will be an informational meeting in the Viking Room during A and B lunches on Thursday, June 2.

    ~Attention Seniors and Juniors that will be 18 by November 8, 2022, a voting registration drive will be held on Thursday 5/19 as a part of a state-wide competition. Haslett can win prizes based on the percent of eligible students that register to vote! Student reps will be coming to classes to help you register on 5/19 so please have a driver's license or state ID with you as well as the last 4 digits of your social security number. You can also register using the QR codes on the posters around the school!

    Overall the team accumulated 18 points and earned their spot in the state tournament.

    ~ If you would like an at home Covid-19 test kit (each kit contains two rapid antigen tests), please stop by the office tomorrow.  High School students may pick them up for their families. These kits will be given out on a first come basis while supplies last. 

    ~On Saturday, the Science Olympiad team hosted the regional tournament here at Haslett High School. There were 12 middle school teams and 14 high school teams participating. Haslett missed qualifying for the state tournament by one point. Every single person on the team medalled in at least 2 events. Congratulations to Peter Rothstein and Marten Kiupel who took first place in WiFi Lab and Ashton Daum and Peter Rothstein who took first place in Forensics.

Over four weeks of play, these remarkable students beat all of their opponents at least once, coming up short in only two rounds.     Congratulations to the men’s varsity bowling team and  the women’s varsity bowling team for both defeating Fowlerville at our match last night. Guys won 25.5-4.5 and the ladies won 20-10. tonight they face Eaton Rapids at Home City Limits East at 3:00 pm.

    ~The Haslett Science Olympiad team competed in their home invitational on Saturday and were 13th place overall out of 43 teams. Congratulations to those who placed: Clara Hummel and Sree Komirisetty, 1st place in Wright Stuff; Saif Shami and Chris Anderson, 2nd place in Experimental Design; and Peter Rothstein and Clara Hummel, 4th place in Green Generation. Congratulations to the team on a great performance against strong competition.

     Your job is to find Vic, take a picture with Vic, and DM it to the Be Nice Instagram account.  @benic.hhs  Students may only take pictures with Vic before school, after school, or during passing time.

     At the end of each week, students who participate will have their name's entered in a drawing for a small prize.

     ~Science Olympiad will have an introductory meeting this Thursday from 2:35 to 4:00 in Dr. Baltahzar's room. Anyone interested should pick up a packet from Dr.. Balthazar sometime before the first meeting and look it over. All are invited to come check it out; we need new members from all grades. You can earn medals for stuff you already know; we have tournaments once a month. If you're interested in Science Olympiad, but can't make it to the meeting, talk to Dr. Balthazar. 

     ~PALs is selling cider and doughnuts Wednesday through Friday Oct. 27-29. Supporting mental health. For a 1$ you will receive 2 donut holes and a cup of apple cider with an inspirational quote! Please see Mrs. Smith if you are unable to donate and she will assist you in receiving donuts and cider!

     ~SAGA will be meeting Tuesday at 2:30pm in Mrs. Burns.

    The induction ceremony for this year's Junior and Senior members will be held this Thursday at 7:00. Practice for the ceremony will be during 5th hour on Thursday. Please report to your teacher for attendance and then go to the performing arts center immediately. 

     ~October is College Awareness Month in the State of Michigan.  On Thursday, all staff and students are encouraged to wear their favorite college shirt or colors.

    Good luck to the cross country teams at tonight‘s league jamboree.  Come cheer the teams on atGrand Wood’s Park at 5:00

     

    On Monday the varsity girls golf team finished second in the State Regional tournament at Groesbeck Golf Course.  This qualified the team for the State Championship tournament on October 15th and 16th at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek.  Sydney finished in 3rd place and Mina in 7th overall.  Good luck team at the State Championship.

    Homecoming FAQ’s

     

    1. Tickets for the dance will be sold during lunches on Wednesday and Thursday this week.  $7 before the dance.  $10 the night of the dance.  Cash or a check to Haslett Public Schools.  The dance will be held at the new Meridian Township Farmer’s Market.  This is the structure in the Meridian Mall Parking lot, closest to the Okemos Post Office. 

     

    1. What do I wear to the dance?  Typically, students dress up more than what they would for school.  Generally gentlemen wear khaki or dress pants.  A long sleeve button up shirt.  A jacket is not necessary, nor do you have to wear a tie.  Ladies typically wear a dress.  The length is up to you.  Again, typically dress shoes in some fashion are worn.  **If you need some help finding dress shoes, please let your teacher know.  We have connections!

     

    1. Voting for King and Queen will take place during lunches on Friday. Only the Senior representatives are candidates for K & Q.

     

    1. The community parade starts at 5:30 pm.  It leaves from Wilkshire Elementary.  The walking portion ends at Haslett Middle School.  The representatives and floats drive on to the High School. 

     

    1. King and Queen results are announced during half time of Friday’s game, along with the other class representatives, 9-12.

    Food deliveries will not be accepted at school this year.  Food delivered to the school will be sent back.

     A reminder to students who take the bus home. The buses need to leave the parking lot no later than 2:32 ~please make sure you go directly to the bus line at the end of the day to keep things on schedule.

You don't have to know everything, but soon you'll be an expert in SOME things. Join quiz bowl! Our first meeting will be next MONDAY, September 13 in Ms. Dykman's room at 2:30. This meeting will be brief and discuss the year and answer any questions you may have. Please join us!

     The juniors are looking for a truck to pull the float in the homecoming parade on October 1st.

     Congratulations to the Haslett Girls Varsity golf team for finishing in first place in the CAAC Red Jamboree yesterday at Eldorado Golf Course in Mason.

    The Haslett team shot a 165 finishing ahead of Mason, St Johns, Williamston and Fowlerville.

    The Haslett girls have won 3 consecutive Jamborees this year and are leading the conference.
